About EyeX

EyeX is developing autonomous robotic systems that protect coastlines, improve environmental sustainability, and automate challenging maritime operations.

As part of our wildlife-safe beach restoration initiative, we are building autonomous marine robots capable of collecting floating Sargassum while minimizing environmental impact.

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Marine Robotics Engineer to lead the development of next-generation autonomous marine robotic platforms.

The Role

You will lead the design, development, and field deployment of autonomous surface vessels and marine robotic systems operating in challenging coastal environments.

Working alongside robotics, AI, electrical, mechanical, and environmental scientists, you will develop reliable autonomous systems for long-duration maritime missions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of autonomous marine robotic platforms
  • Design propulsion, steering, vessel dynamics, and control systems
  • Develop floating Sargassum collection mechanisms
  • Integrate marine navigation systems including GPS, RTK GPS, IMUs, LiDAR, radar, sonar, AIS, and cameras
  • Develop autonomous navigation, obstacle avoidance, and mission planning software
  • Design systems for corrosion resistance, waterproofing, and long-term reliability
  • Conduct coastal and offshore field testing
  • Mentor engineering teams and establish technical direction
  • Support transition from prototype to production

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Marine Robotics, Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field (required)
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience developing autonomous marine robotic systems after completion of the PhD
  • Experience developing Autonomous Surface Vessels (ASVs), Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs), or marine robotic platforms
  • Strong understanding of vessel dynamics and marine navigation
  • Expert C++ and Python programming skills
  • Experience with ROS2
  • Experience integrating marine sensors and autonomous control systems
  • Strong systems engineering and field deployment experience
