We are seeking a world-class Senior Computer Vision & AI Engineer to lead the development of advanced robotic perception systems.
The Role
You will lead the development of AI models that enable robots to detect wildlife, classify Sargassum, understand terrain, avoid obstacles, and make intelligent real-time decisions in dynamic outdoor environments.
Your work will directly shape the perception capabilities of EyeX autonomous systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead development of computer vision and deep learning models for robotics
- Design object detection, semantic segmentation, and instance segmentation systems
- Develop wildlife detection and species recognition models
- Build terrain understanding and traversability analysis algorithms
- Develop sensor fusion using RGB, thermal, LiDAR, radar, GPS, and IMU data
- Optimize AI models for real-time edge deployment
- Build production inference pipelines for autonomous robots
- Evaluate AI performance using real-world field data
- Mentor AI engineers and collaborate with robotics software teams
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field (required)
- Minimum 5 years of industry experience after completion of the PhD
- Expert knowledge of Python
- Extensive experience with PyTorch
- Proven experience deploying AI models in production
- Strong background in object detection, segmentation, classification, and tracking
- Experience deploying AI on embedded hardware
- Strong mathematical foundation in machine learning and computer vision
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with:
Nice to Have
- Publications at CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ICRA, or RSS
- Experience leading AI research teams
- Startup or advanced research experience
- Patents or open-source AI contributions
- Experience deploying AI for autonomous robotics
